Clear, an optometric destination, is an optometric practice that strives to be a pioneer in the eye
care business. As the head optometrist at a high profile refractive practice in Los Angeles catering
to celebrities, Dr. Lok Chan had grown accustomed in providing her patients the best in service.
When deciding to open her own optometric practice emphasizing quality luxury eyewear, she felt
there was a need and a void in the optometric sector for a full service optometric practice where
patients can be pampered during their exam and their frame selection. Clear, is a unique
destination where one can indulge, explore, and experience clarity on all different levels. Dr. Lok
Chan wanted to create a unique experience for her patients and customers to complement the
luxurious eyewear showcased. Fine, antioxidant-rich teas along with natural fat free frozen yogurt
that contains live active cultures are served at the refresh bar. Toppings range from healthy fresh
fruits, custom made flavored mochi in up to 8 flavors, protein-rich nuts, complimentary syrups and
fresh shaved dark chocolate. The refresh bar aims to feature the latest in luxury desserts just as
Clear’s collection showcases the latest luxury eyewear. The refresh bar is complimentary for
patients.
The public is also welcome to enjoy in the experience. Opulent leather seating, 22 foot custom
curtains, music and custom pendant drums are devoted to optimize patient and customer comfort.
A special children's room with a flat screen tv featuring the latest kid's movies, children's books and
toys are dedicated for young patients and customers. The children's room can be seen from all
vantage points of the store, including the examination room, to reassure parents that their children's
experience is equally enjoyable.
Katherine Lok Chan, OD
Dr. Lok Chan was born and raised in the Bay Area and considers San Francisco to be her life long
home. She completed her undergraduate work at UCLA where she received a BS degree in
Biology. Dr. Lok Chan also graduated from UC Berkeley’s prestigious School of Optometry, with
honors, and received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1998.
Dr. Lok Chan has more than 10 years of strong clinical experience and professional
accomplishments in private practice, medical clinics, and working with high profile celebrities in
one of the most prestigious refractive centers in Los Angeles. She has trained numerous refractive
surgery residents and fellows and directed the optometric co- management department for ARIS
Vision Institute, Santa Monica. Dr. Lok Chan also had the privilege of completing an internship at
the Palo Alto Veterans Administration Hospital’s Western Blind Rehabilitation Center in Northern
California where she received training in evaluating and finding visual aids for those affected by eye
diseases that cause vision loss and low vision. She has also received training in ocular disease at
San Francisco Veterans Administration Hospital and extensive refractive surgery training at Beijing
Medical University and Beckman Refractive Surgery Center, UCSF.
Dr. Lok Chan’s professional goal is to provide outstanding patient care in a setting that is truly
unique. She created Clear to be a true experience for her patients and customers.
Dr. Lok Chan’s personal interests include spending time with her three young kids and her
husband.
